In the year 1988, the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at KLE College of Pharmacy, Belagavi, was established. “In the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, we synthesize/isolate and explore molecules of therapeutic relevance for better health, empowered by novel technologies at the interface of chemistry, analysis, and computational sciences.”
The department has adequate well-trained, enthusiastic faculty members with ample experience. Our academic members have a variety of specialties, including analytical, synthetic, and natural chemistry. We develop the next generation of pharmaceutical chemists through our extensive educational programs, giving them the know-how and abilities to succeed in academia, business, and research. Students participate in practical laboratory activities, become proficient in cutting-edge technology, and obtain a thorough understanding of the drug development process.
The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry takes great pleasure in its dedication to giving students a comprehensive and enriching educational experience. To accomplish this, we routinely plan a number of workshops, seminars, and guest lectures that explore the latest developments in pharmaceutical sciences. These platforms provide opportunities for students and scholars to interact with industry experts, exchange ideas, and stay updated on emerging trends.
Key features:
· Pharmaceutical chemistry thrives on the broad goals of drug discovery and optimization of new chemical entities suitable for therapeutic use.
· Our research apprehends the biological roles of drugs, proteins & cellular design, and their structure-activity relationships (SAR) along their ADME properties to apply these principles for the therapeutic benefit of patients.
· For this, our department offers a wide area of research in new drug discovery processes to probe new biomolecules; novel and better ways to enhance their therapeutic efficacy.
· We also create and continually refine the quality aspects of bioactive and drug formulations through the process and development of new analytical methods and bioanalytical fluids with the aim of ensuring efficacy, fitness, and stability.
· Computer-aided drug design and new biotechnological approaches are opening new avenues in the field of medicinal chemistry.
